I'm originally from a small town in Illinois and am a recent arrival in the Chicago area. I've been tutoring for several years now. I majored in Biological Basis of Behavior (combining Biology, Psychology, and Neuroscience) and minored in Creative Writing at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. I'm well versed in helping students with various subjects including Math, English, and tests prep. I love seeing students when their faces light up with those 'a-ha' moments and everything clicks. Beyond teaching however, I also enjoy instilling in my students a sense that learning can be fun. I love recommending books to students that will help them further develop their academic skills, and that they will find entertaining. I think a key component of anyone's education is to be well read. Books can present information in new and various ways depending on the author. I've found that many of my students often find this a good way to grasp the core concept of material they may not initially understand. My goal when working with a student is the same goal I have when working with kids at the Children's Museum: to always to be engaging, informative, and most of all to make sure they have fun learning.
